Perez remains unbeatable in the 550 Challenge

The second day of the 550 Challenge de Mallorca started early from Port Adriano, headquarters of the test, with much excitement for the dispute and victory of the six demanding stages of the day as Formentor and get enough advantage to face with confidence the last stage on Saturday.

The Perez / McElhinney team with their 2021 Ford Fiesta Rally2 of the M-Sport World Rally Team of the World Rally Championship WRC, started as the leader of the race and from the first stage has not yielded a single second to its main rivals, the Majorcan teams Martorell / Fluxa with their Ford Sierra Cosworth and Piza / Piza with their 1999 Mitsubishi Lancer EVO V, second and third classified respectively.

The driver Seb Perez and his co-driver Gary McElhinney have come out very concentrated and have demonstrated it by winning each of the six stages disputed, being unbeatable and continuing leaders of the test at the end of the second day of the 550 Challenge de Mallorca with more than two minutes of advantage over his pursuer.

In the other category, the regularity, the high average continues to be dominated by the Majorcan team formed by the driver Tommy Castañer and Toni Durán, who have shown a great control of their 1970 Frua Porsche 911 2.4 S Targa of 1970 managing to maintain an average speed in each section for as long as possible, which has led them to win five of the six sections of the day. In the low average, the victories in the stages of the day were shared between three British teams, the 1957 MG MGA Roadster of Eric Woolger and Richard Mauran, the 1973 Triumph TR6 of Peter Owles and Fergus Ross, and the 1997 Rover MG MGF of Helen Pitt and Charles Nutter, who despite not winning 4 of the 6 stages of the day, managed to defend their leadership and continue in first position in the classification.

After an exciting day on the roads of Mallorca, tomorrow the last eight stages of the 550 Challenge will be disputed, which will be key to decide the champion of the event. These sections will demand the maximum from all the teams and drivers, who will have to demonstrate one more day their mastery of the steering wheel in order to lift the champion's trophy in Port Adriano.
