A Kit Car in the 550 Challenge

The Kit Car has left an unforgettable taste in the world of rallying, either on a world scale or in the different national championships in which they have taken part. At WRC level it had only three participations, with Mark Higgins driving it in the 1997 1000 Lagos and Masahiro Takasaki and Geoff Jones in the RAC Rally. Where it was able to trouble bigger cars was in the British Rally Championship for several seasons.

The Nissan Micra Kit Car, which will start in the II Challenge de Mallorca, is based on the Micra K11, direct successor of the Sunny adapted to the city car market. With a 1.3 engine, it is one of the smallest of the Kit Cars in the A5 category.

The Micra Kit Car is powered by a naturally aspirated in-line four-cylinder engine with 155 hp, 142 Nm of torque and a 6-speed Hewland sequential gearbox. Its biggest advantage on the tracks was its weight, just 790 kilograms.
