Richard Genesca wins the II 550 Challenge de Mallorca

The second edition of the 550 Challenge of Mallorca based in Port Adriano ends after three exciting days and 16 demanding stages. The test has left a great taste among all the fans who have come to the port and the Mallorcan roads to see the participating teams up close, as among the drivers and co-drivers who have enjoyed some incredible sections where they have put their engines and driving skills to the limit.

With teams from 8 different countries, the young event is positioning itself internationally as a high quality competition capable of attracting great drivers and spectacular vehicles, positioning the island as a motoring reference worldwide. As in previous days, the French driver Richard Genesca and his co-driver Marc Gehant have come out with a great responsibility and pressure: to consolidate the leadership they achieved in the first stage of the competition. Their goal was to win each of the eight stages of the day, and so it was. The French team driver has been unbeatable throughout the competition winning the 18 sections of the test at the controls of his 2018 Skoda Fabia, thus proclaiming himself at the end of the day and with more than seven minutes of advantage over the second classified, absolute champion of the second edition of the 550 Challenge de Mallorca, along with his great co-driver Gehant.

Completing the speed podium were the Balearic teams formed by José Campaner and María Antonia Rotger, with their Skoda Fabia N5, and Nadal Galiana and Gabriel Flores, with their Ford Sierra RS Cosworth, second and third respectively.

In the Regularity category, the Majorcan team formed by Pedro Valls and Joana Font, have also led the race in their category since they took the start last Thursday. They have demonstrated throughout the rally a great control of their Porsche 911 Carrera, and have taken victory after giving up only three stages during the entire test and not abandoning at any time the leadership of the classification. In second position finished the German team of Andre Nelles and Mark Pritchard, with their 1986 Porsche 911 Carrera, being the third place for the team composed by Lorenzo Fluxá and his daughter Lisabel Fluxá, at the controls of their Renault Megane N4 2.0.

At the end of the trophy ceremony, Toni Dezcallar, director of the 550 Challenge de Mallorca, thanked all the drivers for their participation and confidence in this event, which despite being young, has shown great quality during the three days of competition. He also wanted to thank sponsors and collaborators for their effort and unconditional support for the event, as without them it would be impossible to carry out a rally of such a high level.

In a year the third edition of the 550 Challenge of Mallorca will take place and without giving too much information, Dezcallar invited the participating teams and fans to mark the date on their calendar and prepare for a competition with more exciting sections and big surprises that will make the 550 Challenge a unique rally in the Mediterranean.
