LATEST NEWS

Austrian Kris Rosenberger leads the race.

The Austrian driver and his co-driver Schwarz have not given up a single stage in their 2012 Ford Fiesta RS WRC.

In the regularity category, the leadership in 'Media Alta' goes to the Balearic team formed by Lorenzo Fluxá and Lisabel, after showing an incredible control of their 2011 Renault Megane N4 in the rain. In 'Medium Low' the German team Edelhoff/Binder have finished in first position at the controls of their 1973 Ford Escort RS 2000.

In addition to the demanding night stages on the first day of the third edition of the 550 Challenge de Mallorca, the competition was also affected by inclement weather. The storm 'Cirarán' did not want to miss the race and has been present since the beginning of the race and has accompanied the fifty teams during the two night sections of the first day of the rally.

The wind and rain demanded maximum concentration from the teams that set off from Port Adriano, the competition's headquarters and closed park.

In this edition, the teams from eight different countries in addition to Spain, such as the United Kingdom, Germany, Holland, Italy and Canada, started off under the storm with the sole objective of competing for the lead of the event from the first of the two stages of the opening day of the 550 Challenge.

Until Saturday 4th November, all the drivers will cover more than 550 timed kilometres over 14 demanding stages that will demand the maximum from each team at the wheel in order to beat the clock as much time as possible.

The first day, which started with the "Estellencs - Andratx" and "Calvià - Coll Sa Creu" sections, was led by the Austrian team Rosenberger/Schwarz, who maintained their lead throughout the first day at the controls of their 2012 Ford Fiesta RS WRC. After winning the two stages of the first stage that started the rally on Thursday, and with a lead of more than a minute over the second-placed driver, the Austrian driver is aiming for victory in the third edition of the 550 Challenge, although there are still two full days and 12 stages to go. His main rivals and those who complete the temporary podium are the Balearic teams Piza/Piza with their 1999 Mitsubishi Lancer Evo V and Oliver/Barberá with their 1989 Peugeot 205 Maxi.

In the Regularity category, the Mallorcan team formed by Lorenzo Fluxá and Lisabel Fluxá, father and daughter, lead the category in 'Media Alta' with their 2011 Renault Megane N4 demonstrating great skill and control at the wheel in the rain. In the 'Medium Low' category, the German team Edelhoff/Binder won the two night stages and finished in first position at the wheel of their 1973 Ford Escort RS 2000.

Tomorrow, the drivers will face six new stages where they will have to measure their skills and abilities at the wheel, on spectacular roads such as "Coves Campanet-Pollença", "Pollença - Lluc", or "Cap Formentor - Pollença".
