Rosenberger and Schwarz consolidate their lead
The Rosenberger/Schwarz team won all six stages of the second day of the 550 Challenge de Mallorca.
In the regularity category, the lead changed hands after the German women's team Edelhoff/Binder dominated the day with their 1973 Ford Escort RS 2000.
Without rain and with plenty of wind, the second day of the 550 Challenge de Mallorca started punctually this morning at half past eight from Port Adriano, with a lot of expectation to see if the current leaders of the competition could defend their position against the rest of the teams in the six demanding stages of the day.
The Austrian team Rosenberger / Schwarz with their 2012 Ford Fiesta RS WRC, started as the leader of the event and from the first stage has not given a single second to their main rivals, the Italian team of Gian Maria Traversone and José Ruiz, with their 2016 Ford Fiesta R5, and the Balearic team of Alex Oliver and Fran Barberá, with their 1989 Peugeot 205 Maxi, second and third classified respectively.
Kris Rosenberger and his co-driver Siegfried Schwarz came out very focused and showed it by winning each of the six stages, proving to be unbeatable and continuing to lead the race at the end of the second day of the 550 Challenge de Mallorca with more than two minutes ahead of the chasing pack.
In the regularity category, the team formed by Lorenzo and Isabel Fluxá, father and daughter respectively, have ceded the leadership of the category to the German women's team of Steffi Edelhoff and Birgit Binder, who started the second day from third position. The German team showed absolute control of their 1973 Ford Escort RS 2000 throughout the second day, managing to maintain an almost perfect average speed on every stage, which led them to take the lead in the category. The second position at the end of the second day is for the Balearic team Fluxá/Fluxá with their 2011 Renault Megane N4, being the third for the Balearic team formed by Verguer/Barceló, with their 1972 BMW 2002 Tii.
After a great day on the roads of Mallorca, tomorrow the last six stages of the 550 Challenge will be disputed, which will be key to decide the champion of the event. These stages will demand the maximum from the current leaders to defend their position and from the rest of the teams to climb up the rankings. All of them will have to demonstrate one more day their mastery of the steering wheel in order to lift the champion's trophy in Port Adriano.
